Good evening Lee Kindergarten Parents,
Welcome to Kindergarten at Lee Elementary School! We look forward to meeting and working with you and your child during the 2016-2017 school year. This is an incredibly special time for you and your little one, and I can assure you the staff at Lee is overjoyed to meet our newest Leos!
On Wednesday, August 31st, kindergarten children will start their day at 8:05 a.m. and end their day at 11:10 a.m. Please note the change of time. This is not a full day and your child will be dismissed at 11:10 a.m. Perhaps a celebratory lunch is in order! Our Ice Cream Social will also be held on Thursday, September 15th at 6:00 p.m. Mark your calendar as this is a fun evening for all families!
Transitional Kindergarten (TK) and Kindergarten Back to School Night/Orientation will take place on the evening of the first day of school, Wednesday, August 31st at 6:00 p.m. Back to School Night is an evening designed to inform parents; please make child-care arrangements. Beginning on Thursday, September 1st, TK and kindergarten students will attend school from 8:05 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This minimum day schedule is to allow parents an opportunity to attend Welcome Conferences (scheduled during Back to School Night) and will remain in effect until Monday, September 19th, when we will begin our first “regular” 8:05 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. school day.
August 31st: 8:05 a.m. – 11:10 a.m.
September 1st – September 16th: 8:05 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Monday, September 19th: 8:05 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Your child’s room assignment will be posted outside the office during our annual Popsicle Post-it Party on Tuesday, August 30th, beginning at 4:15 p.m. All teachers will attend until 5:00 pm. What a great opportunity to meet your child’s teacher! All TK students are assigned to room 1 with Mrs. Harrington.
A classroom supply list for TK and kindergarten classes can be found on our school website at losal.org/lee. For your convenience, we’ve partnered with Brick By Brick to collect and ship all your classroom supply needs. Should you choose to use this service, not only will your supplies be shipped directly to you, a $5.00 donation will be awarded to Lee to help fund school programs.
The Fam-LEE community welcomes the “Class of 2029” to our school and the Los Alamitos Unified School District. Our strong partnership will make the next six years a period of great educational, personal and social growth for each and every child. I’m looking forward to meeting and getting to know our newest class of students and their parents.
Warmly,
Amy Laughlin, M.A.Ed.
